During my career I have held many leadership roles but my passion lies in the pastoral area of school. I know that happy and content children are those who achieve most in school and the wellbeing of each child is my top priority. I love to see children blossom in confidence and the motto ‘Be Ambitious’ fits in perfectly with my thinking. I had always wanted to travel but family commitments had made that a challenge until last year. I was delighted to take up a post in The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun and become involved in all the exciting opportunities available at the school. I was a coach with the FOBISIA team in April and really enjoyed watching the team achieve their dreams of success through hard work, determination and superb teamwork. I have loved teaching my first Pelicans class and look forward to starting with a new group of Pelicans in August.
I moved to Beijing with my husband, Mark and two daughters, Bella and Poppy. The girls attend BSB Sanlitun in Year 3 and Year 2 respectively. The girls loved their first year in BSB. They thrived in their learning and social relationships. We were all thrilled to be given this opportunity to come to Beijing and become part of the BSB family. We have been delighted to make many new friends from different backgrounds and to experience all that Beijing has to offer. We love to go to the cinema, support Irish Rugby, watch (and in my husband’s case, play) cricket and generally work hard and play hard.
What the students say
"Mrs Hamilton is funny and makes learning a joy. Anytime she teaches it is hard not to learn something new! She is a very kind-hearted person who cares for everyone."
"Mrs Hamilton is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She always helps you, no matter what problem you have, especially if you are going through a hard time."
"Mrs Hamilton inspires us to be hard-working and determined because that is what she is. She really understands children and is an amateur comedian, in my opinion. She loves Gary Barlow - if you don’t know who that is and you are in her class you will soon find out!"
