Kasturi along with several of her BISC Lincoln Park friends donated their time and rolled up their sleeves this past weekend to help prepare packages of children’s essentials at the new Cradles to Crayons – Chicago Giving Factory. Many of the children personally hand selected items from their own closets and brought along clothes, toys and books to donate to Chicagoland children in need.
The event was a great success, Kasturi and her friends, worked hard sorting clothes, books and toys and were able to impact 735 children, and collect enough donations to support an additional 250 children – that’s nearly 1,000 local kids benefiting from their time and donations!
All of the children got to experience service first hand, the joy of giving back and helping others! By volunteering, it reminded Kasturi and her friends that in small ways, each of us has the power to make a difference and re-affirmed for us why teaching our children empathy is so critical to their development and inspiring social change!
Thank you for allowing us to share this exciting story with you and the BISC Lincoln Park community!
