Encourage Success for Every Student

Year 1 is a lovely year group to teach, as we see such a difference in the children from the beginning of the school year through to the end of term. Even now, the children are developing into independent learners who are excited and eager to challenge themselves and be the best that they can be.

Lots of our children come to us with the mindset that being successful is always getting the correct answer or easily being able to do a task.  We work hard to unpick this mindset and teach the children to be comfortable making mistakes, as this is an important part of successful learning.

At BISC Lincoln Park, we no longer have the typical ‘groups’ -  top, middle, and bottom in lessons - and our children are expected to choose the right ‘challenge’ at a level that will be just right for their learning.   Even our children at 5-years old are now able to choose an appropriate level to work at that gives them not only the opportunity to make an independent choice, but  also for them to be successful in this choice.

Ms. Sargeant is our Year 1 Leader and aspiring leader.
