Our Beyond the Classroom blog this week features some very talented students!
Huge congratulations to Leighton B. in Year 5 for her acceptance into the summer intensive program at the School of American Ballet (SAB) in New York City. Out of thousands of students who auditioned nationwide, Leighton is one of only 50 chosen to participate in this prestigious program.
The SAB, established by George Balanchine in 1934, is the preeminent ballet academy in the United States today. Leighton’s week-long immersive experience will be at Lincoln Center’s Manhattan campus. She’ll study with permanent faculty and guest teachers including principal dancers from the NYC ballet.
Bravo, Leighton! Your hard work, dedication, and focus on your dream landed you this coveted opportunity!
Congrats to Y4 Okapi, Nai’a Hernandez! Nai’a competed in the TYR Mid-Season Challenge swim last term, and won her breast, freestyle and butterfly heats. Overall, she placed 4th out of 35 swimmers in freestyle and had the fastest freestyle time on her team, the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club. Well done on this amazing accomplishment, Nai'a!
Luke and Max B.
Luke B. Year 6 (goaltender) and Max B. in Year 6 (defenseman) are players for Stallions Squirt #1 NIHL Elite hockey team. Last term their team won both 2019 Indy Jr. Fuel Tournament and 2019 Chicago Fall Classic.
The Stallions are a small club and their team has fought to compete against bigger clubs. They have burst onto the scene this year as the unrivaled, undefeated underdogs. Great job Luke and Max on your ambition and determination! Go Stallions!
