Born in the North East of England, I then studied in York, where I obtained my teaching degree. Following that I moved to London to teach in the Nursery class at a primary school in the Borough of Lewisham. There I developed a passion for teaching the youngest learners and the Early Years curriculum. I have since taught in British International schools in China and Thailand and have currently been in Chicago at BISC-LP for two years.
I have been teaching for 10 years and still enjoy the Early Years the most. As an Early Years educator I have the pleasure of teaching and supporting children during a pivotal time of their personal, social and academic growth. Through creative, engaging and personalized teaching, I ensure children are prepared for future success. Everyday within the Early Years you witness children discovering their strengths and talents proving that there is no limit to what every child can achieve. When we stop answering questions for them and focus more on raising questions through encouraging inquiry, we open doors for the children to challenge, push and amaze themselves and those around them as to what they can accomplish. As Rabindranath Tagore said, “don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time”.
