I have been teaching since I graduated in 2010. My first teaching post was the head of the Nursery department for a year before moving to a Primary school where I taught and gained valuable experiences in all year groups. For three years I was Special Educational Needs Coordinator for the whole school. As an educator and SENCO leader I firmly believe that ‘Every Child Matters’ and that they all learn in different ways and at a different pace. It is my responsibility to help children gain knowledge, develop themselves through exciting lessons, child-initiated play and through new experiences that will equip them for later life.
I have currently been teaching at the British International School of Chicago Lincoln Park since April 2017 and have loved every minute of it. While at the British School I taught in year 3, Dragonflies and in Nursery since August 2017. Being in Chicago has given me the opportunity to develop my teaching, meet new people and be closer to another interest of mine Disney World. I cannot wait to see what the next school year brings.
