I studied a BSC (Hons) in Behavioural Science at the University of Dundee, where I developed a passion for child development. After completing the course, I worked as a learning representative for the communicator’s workers union in BT. Through this role, we worked in line with a local college to develop a learning center and offer the employees evening course to develop their lifelong learning skills. This led me to develop my passion for teaching and I decided to complete my PGDE in Primary Education at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
For me, working with children is a passion first and a profession second. Over my teaching career I have developed a philosophy of valuing each child as an individual, as well as part of a community. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and equip them with lifelong learning skills. I believe a ‘hands on’, child-centered, challenging and creative curriculum is essential in developing children’s skills, knowledge and their role as global citizens of the future.
