Year 3
Year 3 have been enjoying the weather with our friends, taking time to build using our wood blocks. We have used this to improve our gross motor skills and problem solving skills. It’s also really important for us to communicate when we’re building these!
Year 4
This half term, Year 4 have been focusing on staying safe on the Internet. Whilst using the Internet can be an amazingly informative, fun and useful resourrce, it is imperative that the children are educated properly in its usage, so that they can remain safe, discerning internet explorers. One way they can do this is by following the S.M.A.R.T. scheme of internet safety.
This is a helpful mnemonic that stands for:
S-Safe
M-Meeting
A-Accepting
R-Reliable
T-Tell
These key words help the children to remember how they should be using online resources, and what to do if they find anything inappropriate. To remind themselves and to help others, Year 4 have been designing their own SMART posters and resources, and creating public service, safety videos to inform others of how to use the Internet safely and effectively. By following their own advice, Year 4 students will be able to use the Internet to its full potential, which undoubtedly will aid their learning for many years to come.
