Cambodia Trip Year 8 & 9 Updates - 27 October 2019

As soon as we arrived in Cambodia, we were struck by the humidity and heat. The smell and feel was so different than Nanjing. We were met outside the airport by our Leap team leader and sorted into the blue team and red team.

The short bus ride took us through busy narrow streets with lots of lights and vibrancy. But the hotel was a welcome comfort. The meal was delicious with a fresh zesty salad to start, rice and tasty curry as main with fruit to follow.

The next morning, after a lovely breakfast students start doing some community work. They all worked impressively hard - what a start!! We can already see teams working more effectively. The fruits of their labour are obvious and rewarding. One quarter of the building expertly(..well covered anyway!) for blue and green team. Fruit break in mid morning and a super delicious buffet meal - e.g. Nom banh chok (Cambodian noodles) papaya salad, fried rice, pasta, club sandwiches, and more!

The torrential rain has put an early end to the efforts today and as a result we had some extra chill time this afternoon. Students played games and chatted. Before dinner we reflected on events so far which was insightful. Dinner was a short walk away at a Khmer BBQ place - another delicious meal. Plus we had a mooch around a night market.
