Music Message

The warmest of welcomes to you from your new Head of Music- Mr. Lee Holt.

I had the pleasure of meeting a number of you at the New Parent Mixer last Friday evening and wanted to now get in to touch with you all officially to firstly give you a little background information on my music and education experience and second, to highlight a number of exciting, new music activities on offer for the BSN Community being launched from September for the 2019/20 academic year.

Lee Holt

A native English speaker from the United Kingdom and a graduate from the University of Salford, Manchester U.K. I gained first class specialisms in both Composition and Performance. I am a trained vocalist with music specialisms in guitar, drums and percussion. I also play a number of other musical instruments to support and enhance performances. I have over eighteen years of teaching experience, which begun in Manchester, U.K. Shortly after which, I gained music and performing arts posts in Thailand, Singapore, Australia and most recently Hong Kong as an International music teacher. I was also the winner and awarded the ‘Most Outstanding Director’ for the 2015 Hong Kong Drama Festival and recognized with credits for Primary and Secondary student participation in a number of Hong Kong Speech festivals.

Outside of work, I look forward to family time and enjoy outdoor pursuits, that include travelling and sports such as golf, tennis and swimming. Also look forward at the end of the day to a nice cup of tea and cake like most English would do.

We are now very proud to launch two exciting after school community music activities (ASA’s) beginning every Tuesday from 3rd September with our COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA run by Mr. Timo McVey (Music Teacher) and every Monday from 9th September with our All New COMMUNITY JAZZ BAND run by Mr. Lee Holt (Head of Music)

On the poster you will find details on how to get involved and how to sign up yourself and/or your child (students from Year 3 to Year 13). If you are unable to attend any of the above start dates, you’re welcome to come the week after.

ALL PARENTS and BSN STAFF are welcome to join and play alongside our student musicians. Both activities are FREE OF CHARGE to join too! So why not come along and play your instrument with your son or daughter and get involved? If you’re not sure at this stage, don’t worry and come to the first session to see if it’s for you.

On a final note, our school is always appreciative of any unwanted, yet useable musical instruments and/or music equipment. These maybe lying around in your home or in storage. Through your generosity these donations would not only benefit our students in learning music, but also reinforce our important “recycle, reuse, reduce” environmental message!
