Message from Primary

Dear parents and children,

It has been wonderful to finally meet so many of you in person in recent weeks, whether it has been at this month's Teacher and Parent mixer event, during our United Nations Day celebrations, or at the school gates in the morning. One thing that has immediately struck me is how our children bound into school with such enthusiasm and confidence every morning and I am in the privileged position to be able to see why.

I feel privileged to see your children dress as pirates and superheroes; take part in maths treasure hunts; build trebuchets and answer the all-important question, "Did the Ancient Romans use toilet paper?" I am privileged to see your children challenged, supported and engaged by teachers who go the extra mile to bring their lessons to life. But mostly, I feel privileged to see this enthusiasm and confidence in my own children when they are bounding into school every morning.

Whether it is through our Facebook page, parent/teacher events or this newsletter, our Primary team are always looking for ways to share that privileged feeling with our parents. Our main form of communication with you is through TChat, so please check your child's class page regularly to keep up-to-date in what is going to be a very busy term leading up to Christmas!

On another note, the Mid-Autumn festival has come and gone and children are now expected to come to school wearing their winter uniform. Please check that your child is wearing the correct winter uniform, including black shoes for non-PE days, and please note that children now have the option of wearing a school tie. Umbrellas are not allowed to be carried by children during lunch and break times for health and safety reasons, so please bring your child to school wearing a rainproof coat  where possible so that they can enjoy an outdoor break time in light rain conditions.

And finally, our Primary team is extremely grateful to Mrs Bell, Mr Plummer and Mr Allen for their outstanding work in Year 3 and Year 5A this year. Mrs Bell begins her travels across Asia while Mr Plummer and Mr Allen return to our PE department. We are very excited to welcome Miss Cooper to Year 2A, Miss Wilson to Year 5B and to welcome back Mrs Emmerton to Year 3A.
