Errol Rose - Country Day School

English Language Arts Teacher

My teaching passion began at the early age of seventeen. After high school, I was enrolled in the English program at Universidad de Costa Rica, Facultad de Lenguas Modernas (Modern Languages Faculty at Costa Rica University). While studying, I began teaching at a small school.

Two years later, I travel to the U.S. on a work and travel program, where I was hired by the CIEE “Council on International Educational Exchange Program”. This program was meant for international students from all around the world who wanted to work and travel in the United States. After these three years of adventure, I returned home and completed my English degree at U.I.A. (Universidad Internacional de las Américas). After completing my degree, I worked at this same university in the Language department as a teacher.

A couple of years later, I started a new degree with an emphasis in English teaching. Because of this,  I was able to work at other Universities in San José such as U.A.M (Universidad Americana), Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, Universidad Veritas, and Universidad de Costa Rica. I also worked at Universidad del Istmo, as the director and coordinator of the English Program.  After many years of working at a university level, I decided to transition into teaching at elementary, middle school and high school level.  Consequently, I worked at several other private schools and high schools.

My life shifted and changed completely. Around the year of 1997, while working at (Instituto Dr. Jaim Weizmann), I met my wife Mildred Chaves who was then a Spanish in Elementary.  A few years later, my first son, Errol Rose, was born and a year and seven months later my youngest son, Adriel Rose, was born.  This definitely changed the way I viewed my career.

During a lifetime,  I have taught from Elementary all the way through University level and at this point in my life, I decided that I wanted to share my knowledge with students in public schools. So I worked at “Escuela Garcia Monge” for a few years.

I remember that a long time ago, I had the opportunity to teach at CDS as a substitute teacher. I was so impressed with this school at the time that I wished to become a full-time teacher here someday. My wish came true 20 years later and in the year 2015, I was hired as an ELA teacher at Middle School. This has been so far a wonderful experience where the most important for me has always been,  having students in a happy environment.  For me, this is also a great opportunity to have students who are happy to embrace learning.
