Thank you to all our parents who attended last week’s events.

Last Tuesday’s Friends of Compass School (FCS) Drop in for Coffee morning was buzzing as parents enjoyed catching up and meeting new parents.  Claire and Rebecca, our FCS Chair and Vice Chair were extremely pleased by the number of parents who signed up to attend this week’s Friends of Compass School meeting and we are looking forward to seeing parents tomorrow on 10 October at 7.30 am.

We hope you enjoyed last week’s Phonics Workshops.  It was wonderful to see our parents engaging in activities which support and enhance our children’s learning.  Thank you to http://www.nordangliaeducation.com/our-schools/doha/compass-international-school/our-people/meet-our-teams/gharaffa-team/primary-staff/andrew-pegrumAndrew Pegrum and Kirsty Marrs, the school’s Early Years and Milepost 1 Leaders for organising these valuable workshops.  On Wednesday, we will be hosting an English as an Additional Language (EAL) presentation for our second (or third or fourth) language parents, this will take place at 7.30am.

Year 3 engaged in a fun dinorock hunt last week.  Children could be seen excitedly foraging on the playground, looking for unusual rocks.  The hunt was linked to the IPC Topic, ‘Footprints of the Past’.

Nick Tockzek, one of the UK’s leading children’s authors, visited our campus this week.  He ran workshops with the children who learned how to build their own performance poem and all enjoyed their time with Mr Tockzek.

Next Sunday the school will host Jessica Meyers, a world-class violist from the New York Juilliard school of performing arts.  Jessica is renowned for her inspirational workshops.  We are very much looking forward to her visit.

Advance notice that parents will have the opportunity to meet with teachers on Monday, 23 October.  Sign-up sheets will be made available shortly.  The Parent Teacher Consultation session will run from 2pm to 6pm.  I would very much like to encourage parents to make an appointment to meet all teachers, including Arabic, PE and Music.  We will be in touch when the sheets are ready for sign up.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
