Thank you to all parents who were able to attend our International parade and breakfast this morning. It was wonderful to see such a stunning display of costumes. I would also like to thank you for not only supporting this event but for providing dishes of food for the children to sample culinary delights from around the world.
In the next few weeks, we have an array of exciting events which we hope our parents are able to support. Next week, we have our sports days plus a visit from the New York Juilliard dance, drama and music Academy. Over the next year, we plan to develop our music and performing arts provision, working closely with the academy to achieve excellence in this field. This week, a letter was sent out to our Year 4 to Year 6 parents asking children to sign up for our school choir. Hopefully, the choir will be a tremendous success.
In this week’s Middle Leaders meeting we discussed our forthcoming Book Week. The week promises to be inspirational. Please remember that it is important that children learn the value of reading not only in school but at home. Share your own reading material with your child, reading excerpts from novels, asking them how the story might end or finding an alternative ending. This will ultimately have a positive impact on your child’s writing.
This week, we are very proud to announce our two Global Campus creative writing competition winners. Tyler Williams, 4B and Aisha Telfat, 3B will both be receiving a special book award. Well done to our children.
We are currently selling tickets for our Arabian Night. This will be a cultural evening for all the family which will be held at the Gharaffa campus. Mrs. Enam has organised some fantastic Arabic entertainment, including dancers (adult and children), craft stalls, plus a falcon display. The ticket cost includes food and a drink. The tickets are selling fast so please buy a ticket while you can. Our Arabic teachers will be selling tickets on the playground before and after school. Our team will also be distributing flyers, advertising this exciting event.
Please remember that Tuesday, 14 February is National Sports Day. The school will be closed.
Parents could I please ask that you take the time to complete the parent survey – your thoughts are extremely valuable.
On behalf of all the Gharaffa team, I’d like to wish you all a relaxing weekend.
