Dear Parents,
We are happy to announce that we will be holding an event to celebrate World Poetry Day at 5:00pm on Monday, 20 March. Poetry is part of the English curriculum throughout the school and the children enjoy reading and writing their own poems. This Poetry Recital evening will give the students from Year 3 to IB the chance to perform and recite poetry in a relaxed and informal environment. Parents are also invited to perform.
The recitals will take place from 5:00pm in the central courtyard area of school, which will be transformed into a performance venue. The poetry can be in any language and can be performed solo or in small groups. Passion, character voices and humour are welcome ingredients to make the evening enjoyable for all, whatever the language.
Should you, your child or children wish to perform, please indicate this by returning the slip on the attached PDF as soon as possible and no later than Wednesday, 15 March. Support from teachers in school will be available for planning and rehearsing.
We look forward to welcoming many of you on the evening, either as performers or interested audience.
Kind regards,
Lucinda Elliott Anne Harrison
English Coordinator (Primary) Head of English (Secondary)
