The PE Department from all three Compass campuses recently attended a 15 hour programme on how to implement Real PE into primary curriculum. The course was led by John Parsons from Create Development, a company which has implemented this philosophy and approach into over 4000 UK schools.
Real PE is a unique child centred approach that transforms how we teach PE to engage and challenge every child. It develops the key abilities that children need to be successful within PE and Sport across the whole school curriculum. Real PE identifies 6 core strands that are to be addressed in units that focus on creativity, social, personal, physical, cognitive and Health and Fitness.
All the PE teachers on the course were amazed at the units of work and support material that came with the programme and were able to understand the change in philosophy and approach by taking part in practical sessions.
Real PE will take place in all our Doha primary schools from Early Years to Year 3 during this academic year before making the transition into Years 4-6 during the next academic year.
We are confident this new curriculum will provide all children with the physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills that they need to achieve in PE, Sport and life. Expect your child to come home buzzing about their Real PE lesson and see their confidence grow in all 6 core strands.
