Dear Parents,

I am delighted to announce that Rayyan Campus has been awarded with the maximum 5 year term of Accreditation, by the School Evaluation Department from the Evaluation Institute of the Ministry of Education. This is particularly exciting because the team also accredited our Early Years Department at the same time.

You may remember the Visiting Team attending Rayyan Campus for five days in November and carrying out a very thorough review of our school, including meeting with parents.  The school was commended for its commitment to the educational vision of Qatar, quality assurance and continuous improvement. We received a very positive feedback report from the Evaluation Institute which particular commented on the high quality teaching and learning, relationships between students and staff and international understanding.

Here are some of the report highlights:

“The visiting team acknowledges that the school has in place well- qualified academic staff, who were observed to have a strong impact on the teaching quality in the classrooms observed.”

“Meetings with students and teachers and reviewing of school documents show that an abundance of school programs are designed to encourage students to develop an international outlook, to respect and understand the spectra of various cultures, and to socialize and collaborate with students from all over the world.”

Provision of ICT technology forms a remarkable privilege that is effectively used by teachers and students. Nearly all teachers were evidenced to use technology purposefully in a way that had a clearly positive impact on facilitating teaching and enhancing students' learning.”

“It was made clear to the visiting team through reviewing emails, photos, and meeting minutes that the school organised many activities and programs that ensured active parental participation in school life.”

That said, continuous improvement is key to moving forward and making progress so with this in mind, plans are afoot to develop our Early Years outdoor provision, starting this month. Watch out for future developments. We look forward to sharing more of our learning with you at our ‘School in Action Days’, later this term.

Welcome to STEAM Week at Rayyan Campus.

We set the scene for the week with a ‘hack’ on Thursday where we had cars parked in the playground and lots of paper aeroplanes flying in the wind. This was followed by an exciting assembly on Thursday, led by Ms Reid, Our STEAM Coordinator and Mr Porter, our Director of Learning.

Everyone arrived at school an immediately wondered what was happening. The children were enthused; many of them curious and asking questions about what they were they for and offering scenarios.

The assembly set the scene and  our imaginations on fire with ideas of driverless cars, future aviation and what to make with all the items in the Curiosity Cube-maybe even adding some more. Our ambitious learners were awarded with a certificate in assembly and we hope that STEAM Week will inspire our children to be inventive, curious and forward thinking. We look forward to all the exciting events this week and to reporting back to you next week.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the first ‘Drop in for Coffee’ of the year. It was great to see so many of you and we have already discussed some ideas to include student voice this term in Friends of Compass School (FCS) activities.

The first FCS meeting will take place on Wednesday at 1.30pm in my office. All parents are welcome to join the group and have a say in what happens in our vibrant Rayyan Community.

Our Tots and Toddler Book Club got off to a good start last week. We hope that many more of you will avail of the opportunity to hear a story and learn early reading skills. Timings are:

  • Monday: 1.00-1.30pm, in English
  • Thursday: 1.00-1.30pm,  in Arabic

Have a fantastic STEAM Week.

Kind regards

Ann Djedid

Head of Rayyan Campus
