New Term, New Year.
Happy New Year to all members of our Compass School community.
This is always an exciting time in school as we have the opportunity to try new things and take our learning in new directions. This week sees our ECA programme beginning again an I am hopeful that many of our students have elected to try a new activity widening their knowledge, make new friends and have lots of fun along the way.
Through our amazing collaboration with MIT, we have our STEAM Week beginning on Sunday 14 January. To support this, there will be information given to students this week about how they will be exploring the connections between all STEAM subjects and what challenges have been set for all Nord Anglia schools via the Global Campus. Expect some fantastic social media updates next week – if you haven’t already ‘liked’ the school Facebook page, then please do.
Continuing the theme of looking forward, our Year 13 students have now all completed their University applications and are eagerly awaiting acceptance offers from some great universities around the world. Their destination will be published later this year but to ensure they get to their first choice university, they will be sitting their IB Diploma mock examinations all this week. Good luck to our Year 13 students – the IB scores you get will reflect the effort you applied to your revision!
Year 9 students will soon begin the process of selecting their IGCSE subjects for starting next year. This is a key time of year for them as we ensure they have all the information they require to make a well-informed decision about their future studies. You, as parents, are also key to this process and will be fully informed at every step of the process. We will be communicating directly with all Year 9 parents in the coming weeks.
At the start of this term, I must thank all the parents who have sent their child to school wearing the correct school uniform. It really looked good last week and we will continue to work with parents to make sure it looks great, with all students meeting expectation, as we move forward together.
Finally, I would like to offer a very warm welcome to all our new student and families who have just joined our school community. With over ten new students in secondary, across the year groups, we are lucky to have you and I am confident that you will be happy and find great success here at Compass School.
Good luck to our Year 13 students.
