Thank you to all our parents who attended last week’s events.

We had a great turnout at our first Class Representatives meeting of the academic year.  Hopefully, parents have now received an introductory letter from the Class Representative.  Balsam Al Mari has kindly volunteered to be our Class Representative leader.  Balsam will liaise with Rebbecca Leslie, the School’s FCS (Friends of Compass) Chairperson and Helen Stevenson (School Secretary) to ensure that any key information is cascaded to parents.  We will try very hard not to bombard you with messages.

We hope parents who attended Thursday’s English and Maths workshops found the sessions enjoyable and informative.  It is the School’s aim to work in very close partnership with parents. It was great to see our parents engaging in activities which support and enhance the children’s learning.  Thank you to Andrew Pegrum (Milepost 1 leader), Hannah Brown (Maths coordinator) and Kirsty Marrs (EYFS leader) for organising these valuable workshops.  On Wednesday, we will be hosting an EAL (English as an Additional Language) presentation for our second language parents, this will take place at 7.30am.

Last week, the School’s Year 5 and Year 6 boys took part BISQ (British International Schools of Qatar) trials.  We are proud to announce that 6 of our students have now made it into the team.  Well done, boys and thank you to Mr Lyon for organising this event.

This week, the school photographer is visiting Gharaffa.  Our children have thoroughly enjoyed posing for photographs with their class mates.  We are looking forward to seeing the results.

Parents were notified on Thursday about our forthcoming Parent Consultations which will take place on Monday 8 October.  The consultations will be held from 2pm to 6pm.  I would very much like to encourage parents to make an appointment to meet all teachers, including Arabic, PE, Music, ALN and EAL specialists.  If you are able to arrive 10 minutes prior to your allocated slot then you will have the opportunity to look through your child’s work.  Please sign up for the Parent Consultation as soon as possible or return the slip attached to last week’s letter directly to your child’s class teacher.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
