Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support last week when the campus was flooded and we had to close the school to ensure the safety of both children and parents. The cleaning and maintenance teams worked round the clock to clear the water and clean the school and did a fantastic job of getting everything ready for Monday.

It was definitely full steam ahead at Rayyan Campus last week. The children spent two days focusing on STEAM projects, linked to superheroes and the special powers that we see in the animal kingdom. The week began with a special STEAM assembly to get everyone thinking about animal powers and ambitious learning. The classes chose an animal and learned facts about the powers it has, trying to recreate them through investigations and experiments. They will use some of them to make their own superhero. We had flying squirrels, giant spider’s webs, bat boys and bat girls whilst we learned about each animals’ unique features and demonstrated their powers.

The highlight of the week was the parent Seminar on STEAM, followed by our whole school science fair. The children were so excited to share their projects with parents, students and visitors. It was a lovely way to end the week and a great example of collaborative learning. Thank you to the large number of parents who attended and enjoyed their own STEAM challenge.

Congratulations to Rehan Asif Y4A who represented our School Swimming Squad on Friday 19th in the 1st ASD Dragon Inter-School Competition. Rehan achieved 2nd place in 50m backstroke, 2nd place in 50m freestyle, 1st place in 50m butterfly and 2nd place in 100m freestyle. Well done Rehan!!

I am sure that you are looking forward to a lovely half term break. The children have worked hard and are settling down well so deserve to have a relaxing holiday, to refresh themselves.

We look forward to welcoming you back on the 4th November, with the parent ID badge scheme coming into effect. If you do not have a badge yet, please make sure you get it next week to allow you to enter the campus.

Parent are welcome to ‘drop in for coffee’ on the 7th November at 7.30am.

Have a lovely holiday!

Kind regards,

Ann Djedid
