The atmosphere on Thursday at Gharaffa was electric as children arrived at school attired in House colours, wearing crazy hair and clutching pet food and cakes for the school’s Student Leadership Spirit Day.
Children and staff congregated on the field at 8 am to watch a dance performance led by a group of Year 2 girls which was fantastic. The dance was followed by our annual Staff versus Students Rounders competition. Both teams played exceptionally well with the staff, once again, bringing home the cup. At points throughout the morning, the children visited the hall to purchase cakes which were being sold by our Student Leaders. I would like to thank all the parents for helping the school make Thursday another amazing success. Avril from Second Chance Rescue collected the donations on Thursday and would like me to thank our wonderful school community for their generosity.
Last week’s trips were enjoyed by all the students. Year 1 had a fun time at the Roza Hassad Garden centre, Year 2 hopped on their bright yellow ‘Hop on, Hop off bus’ on Tuesday – there was great excitement as they clambered up the stairs to the top deck and Year 3 had a fun time at the Sharq Village Hotel and Spa chocolate making. Year 6 arrived back to school exhausted after their Blue Pearl Experience Residential Trip, following some great experiences kayaking, climbing and mountain biking.
I would like to end this term’s newsletter by thanking our whole school community for being so incredibly supportive. This term we started with an incredible and dynamic STEAM Week, hosted parent workshops and a School in Action for parents, sports days, competed at the BISQ Games, held our annual school production and Arabian Night, held Juilliard Master classes in Music, the Friends of Compass School (FCS) organised a Movie Afternoon for the children and Health and Wellness morning for parents, Dutch King’s Day was hosted by the Dutch department and the children have had a fantastic time on their school trips. The list of events is endless. We hope your child has had a truly memorable learning experience.
To conclude, I’d like to thank all our wonderful children, staff and parents for making this school such a special place. I look forward to seeing you for the start of the summer term at 7.15am on Sunday, 8 April.
Have a relaxing break.
