Saturday’s Spring Fete at Compass International School Doha, Madinat Khalifa campus was a great success!
Stalls surrounded the playground selling a wide range of novel items such as Arabian trinkets, bags and jewellery. We were entertained by the school orchestra and the two choirs plus the Community Choir. Smells from the barbecue filled the air as children enjoyed their time on the bouncy castle and engaging in other fun activities. Cream teas were also available for families who were looking to survive the heat. We hope our community enjoyed the morning.
Last Thursday, Year 5C focused on the theme of being unique and individual. This was an assembly which celebrated individual talents as children showcased their skills. Sky-diving and a hula hoop display, plus a poetry recital and many other talents were shown to the children who left the hall not only in awe of what they had observed but reflecting on their own talents and how these could be further enhanced. Well done to all the children who participated in this assembly. The Early Years and MP1 assembly was led by Ms Marrs, Head of Early Years, who talked to the children about the importance of manners. Following both assemblies, Mrs Enaam distributed this year’s Qur’an certificates. Well done to all the children who competed in the Qur’an competition, we are very proud of your success.
On Thursday, I attended a safeguarding course led by Nord Anglia in Al Khor. As safety is always our number one priority, in the next few weeks, the school will be introducing ID lanyards for parents as well as staff, we will also be reviewing some of our current systems and procedures. More information will follow.
Tomorrow, Rebbecca Leslie (FCS Chairperson), will be hosting this month’s FCS meeting. The meeting will be held at 7.30am in the school staffroom. Please come along, we always look forward to welcoming new people. There is no obligation to speak. Simply come along and enjoy a cup of coffee in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
On Wednesday, we will be welcoming Ingrid from Juilliard School of Performing Arts and Music. She will be spending the day in school teaching dance master classes. Ingrid will be showcasing her work to the whole school at 12.40pm. Parents are welcome to join us for this special assembly.
This week, the IPC personal goal is cooperation. In class and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) the children will be engaged in activities which promote this personal goal. Please discuss this personal goal at home and find ways for your child to cooperate in daily activities (such as household chores, following rules, working with others etc).
On Thursday, I will be leading an IPC (International Primary Curriculum) information session. This will take place at 7.30am, in the Morgan Hall. As Compass is an IPC school, it is important that parents find out more about the value of IPC and its impact on children. I look forward to seeing all our parents on Thursday. Coffee will be available if you’d like to arrive slightly earlier than the start time.
Enjoy the week.
