Dear Parents,

Ramadan Kareem! We wish all our Muslim families a blessed Ramadan.

Thank you to Year 5B for sharing their learning about Ramadan traditions and beliefs. We hope this is a time of reflection for all of our children, regardless of faith, and an opportunity to think of others in our international community, showing respect for each other’s beliefs and culture.

During Ramadan, our school hours will be 8.00am -1.00pm. The gates will open at 7.30am and school will close at 1.30pm. Lessons have been shortened to 50 minutes instead of one hour so that the children will still enjoy the whole range of curriculum subjects during this time. Assembly will start at 8.15am on Thursdays.

Our swimming team has enjoyed much success over the last weeks in the Qatar Private Schools Sports Association competitions. The children swam their hearts out and demonstrated our ‘Be Ambitious’ philosophy, and resilience, so well. Their success will be celebrated in school with the children being presented with their medals in assembly.

On Wednesday night, our Year 6 students came together for a special celebration party to mark their successful graduation to secondary school. They enjoyed an evening of delicious food, dance moves, a quiz and some party games at the Al Sharq Village and Spa. There was much excitement, many fun photographs at our photo booth and the collection of autographs on the specially created T shirt for the ‘Class of 2018’. We can be proud that we have such well-rounded, inquisitive and polite children who share our school values, are respectful, internationally minded and most of all, happy. Congratulation to Year 6 on their success as they prepare to start out on the next phase in their learning journey.

Our FCS group will be organising a family Iftar Buffet, during Ramadan. Watch out for more details in a separate letter. It will be a chance for our community to come together to share this experience.

Our IPC Personal Goal this week is Morality: For children this means,

•                I think about what is right and wrong and do the right thing

•                I am unselfish in my actions

•                I can give reasons for my actions.

•                I can tell my friends if I feel they are doing something wrong.

•                I respect other people’s beliefs.

•                I can stick to my own ideas about what is fair.

We are looking forward to the Year 1 and 2 Bilingual classes presenting their learning at assembly on Thursday at 8.15am.

Kind regards,

Ann Djedid
