Teacher Development at Compass International School Doha

We pride ourselves at Compass International School Doha on the quality of our teacher development and that of our Learning Assistants too. A fine example of this is Hema Garia, a Learning Assistant in Year 4 at our Madinat Khalifa Campus.

Hema has taken full advantage of the online courses available via the Nord Anglia Education training site, called Nord Anglia University (NAU). Via this site our team members can take: tutored courses that last six weeks and involve approximately four hours work each week, self-study courses which can be covered in a matter of hours, Middle and Senior Leadership courses which involve residential visits and take over a year, and Masters courses via a collaboration with King's College in London.

Hema has completed a number of courses this year, and she explains in her own words her achievements:

"Every term NAU runs online courses which are useful for personal development. So far I have done ''Guided Reading", ''Mindfulness" and ''Learning Technology in the Classroom". I find technology challenging for me but I am very happy to announce that I have completed that course without any hassle and I have learnt a lot from it. Now I feel so comfortable with technology and can be more interactive in my classes during ICT lessons."

At present four members of our Compass team are studying for a Masters with the support of Nord Anglia Education.
