Dear Parents,

Parent ID badges have now been processed.  We are looking forward to rolling this new system out in the next few weeks.  Thank you for all your positive comments, your child’s security and well-being is the school’s number one priority.

School in Action last Monday was enjoyed by all our families and students who were extremely excited to be sharing their learning.  We hope parents enjoyed this glimpse into their child’s school life and felt the morning gave an insight into the International Primary Curriculum.  If you do have any further questions about IPC and this year’s IPC topics please talk to your child’s class teacher. Learning is always enhanced when parents are knowledgeable and are able to support the child’s learning by visiting museums, art galleries or engaging in activities which give children firsthand experience.

On Thursday, Year 1 to Year 6 were entertained by class 6B who relayed facts from their recent IPC ‘Brainwave’ unit.  The students informed the school about the different parts of the brain and how the brain functions.  There were a few challenging activities for the audience as the students demonstrated how the two sides of the brain work.  Thank you to the 6B students and Ms Brown and Ms Payne.

Yesterday, Early Years 2 were visited by one of our local vets who talked to the children about animals and how to take care of them.   The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the vet, with many children now looking forward to being responsible for their own pet.  I hope the children were able to share some of their knowledge at home and benefitted from finding out more about animals.

Tomorrow morning, the school will be hosting a Class Representatives meeting.  The meeting will take place after drop off and is an opportunity for parents to share good ideas.  Thank you once again to all parents who signed up for this position.

On Thursday, we begin our English and Maths workshops.  These will be led by Milepost Leaders and subject coordinators.  Be prepared, as there will be some hands on activities for parents.  The workshop schedule is as follows:

7.30am                 Year 1 and Year 2 Phonics and Maths workshop

12.00pm               Early Years Phonics and Maths workshop

We look forward to seeing you at the meetings.

Kind regards

Karen Wilson
