Parent workshops are now in action. If you are interested in finding more about how your child learns then please join us for this week’s workshops.
Last week we held our first Friends of Compass School (FCS) meeting of 2019. Our new Chairperson, Matina Voortman, led the meeting and thank you to all parents who were able to attend. At the meeting we discussed the FCS events which will take place this term. The team is now planning and preparing for a parent ‘Wake up and Shake up’ health and fitness morning which will be held during Sports Week. This is promising to be a bigger event than previous years as we plan to invite yoga and other keep fit instructors who will run small workshops for interested parents. All activities are optional so if you’d prefer to stand back and watch that is absolutely fine. In March, we plan to host our usual movie afternoon for the children. Further information for both events will follow.
Although the weather is now warming up, some children are still feeling cold at break times and early in the morning. If you would like to purchase a navy fleece (school navy please), your child is welcome to wear this when playing outside. The fleece must be removed when children return indoors. The uniform shop does not supply fleeces. Due to a request from parents, we have now arranged for a pop up uniform shop to visit the school on 21st January. Uniform will be on sale all day.
Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 4 girls’ football teams who competed at Aspire last week. Our Year 4 team came 4th out of 11 schools and Year 3 won three matches and drew seven, by placing 3rd and winning the Bronze Medal . Once again, all our girls played exceptionally well and were great Compass representatives.
Well done also to Year 6C who shared their work from last term’s IPC unit, ‘Extreme Survivors’ in Thursday’s assembly. The children shared their understanding of the unit in a fun, knowledgeable way. Some great learning has been taking place in Year 6.
Tomorrow we will be hosting this term’s Class Representatives meeting. The meeting will be an opportunity for all our Class Representatives to enjoy a cup of coffee and share ideas. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, 22 January.
On Monday, 28 January, we will be opening our doors for this term’s ‘School in Action’ morning. This event will take place from 7.30am to 9.30am and will be an opportunity for parents to observe our children and teachers in action. We hope that all our parents are able to attend.
And finally… one last chance to complete our parent survey which has been extended to Thursday, 31 January 2019 to allow for more parents to complete.
To assist with the school’s continued improvement we appreciate it if you could take five (5) minutes of your time to visit the link below and complete our NAE Parent Engagement Survey. We value your input and use this to guide new initiatives to develop our school further and to give our students the best possible experience both inside and out of the classroom.
