This week we celebrated achievements and accomplishments of all students in the school, acknowledging both their academic and extra-curricular successes.  Our termly Praise Assembly was held with students from all year groups.

Awards included house points total, it’s very tight, with West at the top.  This will go up a notch at our forthcoming Sports Day, can West keep the cup?  Individual house achievements were also presented  with Silver and Gold house certificates.  In addition to this, students were recognised by their form tutor with their ‘Be Ambitious’ awards.  Two students were each recognised by their form tutor for displaying traits of excellence for success.  This is not limited to academic attainment; however, the extras that gives our students character.

Our phenomenal growth of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award saw over 100 students recognised for their participation.  Students were presented with their Bronze awards.  The next crop of students will be completing their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards later on this year.  Student performance was also a key part of the showcase.  Students enjoyed the Secondary Choir and the ever popular Funkadelic Orchestra.

An IB group from Year 12 also spoke to the students regarding their help in raising money for the recent expedition to Tanzania.  Photos of the adventure were shared along with the narrative on why it is important to help others.

We look forward to the mock results for IB and IGCSE next week, followed by the celebration of diversity we have in school with our International Breakfast.

Yours sincerely,

Tom Douch
Head of Secondary
