It was a pleasure to see so many parents come along to our first ever FCS meeting at Themaid and to present their ideas to the group. We hope to meet once a month to share thoughts and ideas and promote our school community. Members do not have to attend meetings if they are not available however if you can give support to the group and help out at events, please let them know on firstname.lastname@example.org
One of the first ideas shared is to launch a House Logo competition, which we will announce this week. We will introduce the theme to our students at the House Assembly on Thursday morning. We look forward to receiving entries from our budding artists and graphic designers to represent the Compass points and colours of their house. Details of the competition will be sent to you separately.
Parent Teacher Consultations are being held in school this week. This is an important meeting where you can discuss your child’s progress with the teacher and agree on their next steps.
Secondary students are expected to attend the meeting with their parents to reflect on their learning. Primary students should not attend the meeting so must either stay at home or be with their parents in school. Students are not permitted to play or be left unattended during the meeting times. You are expected to collect your child at the usual time of 1.30pm. If you have an appointment at 2.00pm, please collect your child and wait in Reception. We look forward to welcoming you to the meetings to work with you to ensure that your child is being ambitious in their learning.
Our Parent Seminar series continues this week with Mr Porter presenting on ‘Studying for Exams’. This is an important seminar for students in secondary as exam preparation and study techniques are essential for success. The seminar takes place on Wednesday at 7.30am in the auditorium.
World Maths Day takes place on Tuesday, 15 October. Our students will be involved in exciting games, problem solving and extra maths activities on Wednesday to focus on maths in our everyday lives.
School will be closed next week from Sunday 20 to Thursday 25 October, inclusive for half term. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Sunday, 27 October. Have a lovely, restful half term break.
