Wednesday night saw us invite the Year 6 and 5 students in from the Compass primaries and give them a chance to participate and meet the specialist subject teachers. One of the most important parts for me was hearing from the current students. We listened to Allyana and Leen in Year 12 discuss their journey from Primary through to Secondary. We are also lucky enough to have the Head Girl and Boy from Gharaffa, MK and Rayyan last year to be on hand to discuss Year 7 issues. They presented excellently around the theme of expectations vs. reality.
The excitement is building for Expedition's Week in the first week of January. The students have shown an overwhelming appetite to explore beyond the classroom and also learn more about the city that they live in. Year 11 and 13s are gearing up for their mock exams, with teachers supplying the challenge and support resources for independent study. There have been study sessions provided in school and this will be a real gauge of their efforts so far over the course. Year 12 are nervously excited regarding travelling to Tanzania. If you have any stationary or equipment that they could take with them to the primary school, please feel free to drop it into the reception.
We look forward to National Day celebrations and the assembly that the Qatari students will be providing us with on Monday 16 December where we will be finishing at 12pm. This opportunity will be reciprocated on the 25 January with our International Breakfast celebration.
