Children from Years 2 to 6 participated by demonstrating their flair for the language in a classroom situation. Our fantastic Valentine in Year 5 led the session, displaying confidence and fluency in French. The grand finale featured a fun song which the children sang with enthusiasm. Well done to all our French students and to Mrs Reyad for her dedication and hard work. The children are now preparing for the DELF examinations in Term 2.
Thank you to all parents who attend the BISQ (British International Schools of Qatar) Games presentation on Sunday. The PE staff gave an overview of the event which will be taking place in March and expectations in terms of training. Continuing with the theme of PE, our students participated in the Cross Country event competing against 11 other schools in Qatar. We are proud to announce that our students came in third place bringing home 5 medals, one of which was gold! Well done to all our exceptionally talented athletes and to our team of inspirational teachers.
Tomorrow, our Year 4 children will be visiting Kidzmondo. The trip promises to be a valuable exit point, linked to the students’ recent learning from their International Primary Curriculum unit, ‘How Humans Work’, with a specific focus on hospitals and the medical world.
Also tomorrow, the school will be hosting this month’s coffee morning. We look forward to seeing all our parents in the pergola at 7.30am for an informal cup of coffee and chat.
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week we will be learning about the photography of Ms Felice Frankel as part of our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) unit of work. Ms Frankel is a photographer of scientific images who has received multiple awards, both for the aesthetic quality of her science photographs and for her ability to effectively communicate complex scientific information in images. Our students will be tasked with photographing images from different perspectives, in a similar fashion to Ms Frankel. Parents will be invited into school on Thursday to view some of the children’s work.
The school is now preparing for National Day which we will be celebrating on Thursday 12 December. We plan to invite all our parents to our outdoor assembly which will take place on Thursday morning. Following the assembly, parents will be invited into classrooms to enjoy an Arabic style shared breakfast. Sword dancers, crafts people and bakers will be demonstrating their skills and educating the children during the day whilst focused learning activities will be taking place in classrooms. We are all very much looking forward to this event.
Enjoy the week.
