As you are aware, it has been a particularly busy week for us with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Accreditation Team in school. They met students and parents to discuss and review the learning in our school. They observed many lessons, including specialist lessons, and asked the children questions about their learning. It has been a thorough and enjoyable experience for teachers and leaders and we look forward to receiving their feedback and report in the future. As a school, we are committed to quality assuring our curriculum offer, teaching and learning and visits such as this help to validate our own judgements and areas for improvement.
A special thank you to the parents and students who gave up their time to come into school on a holiday to meet the team. A real sign of commitment and dedication! It is much appreciated.
On Tuesday we held a Welcome Assembly to share our IPC learning from the Fairgrounds unit and the Rainforest unit. The students confidently expressed themselves and asked questions. Children from Year 5 and 6 demonstrated their understanding of forces whilst Year 3 entertained us all with an amazing rainforest soundscape; both linked to their current learning. With certificates and a welcome back from the Head Girl and Boy, this was a truly positive example of Rayyan's strong community. Adaptability was the IPC Personal Goal being celebrated this week and our Assembly was a great example of how adaptability is vital.
Our Music Assembly on Thursday was a real celebration of musicality and success. Children of all levels of skill were included to showcase their learning and the progress made during instrumental lessons and music lessons. We had percussion, violin, guitar and lovely singing. The recorder group were fantastic-on tune and in unison. What an achievement. Mrs Lerche can be very proud of what she has achieved at Rayyan Campus and the students were a super reminder of the amount of work she has put into raising the profile of music and the standard across the music curriculum.
We celebrated two IPC Personal Goals in school last week. The first was Adaptability; being comfortable in a variety of situations and adapting to change. The second was Morality, knowing the difference between right and wrong and making the right choices.
I am happy to say that we have many children in school who are perfect examples of those goals in action.
Our Student Voice Group chose their certificate winners as follows:
Salma 2B – for always being inquisitive and full of energy.
Omar 6C – for being polite and helpful to peers and staff.
Charlotte 3C – for showing an amazing sense of morality when learning about the rainforest.
Congratulations to all of our certificate winners on their success.
Our Year 6 students are coming to the end of their primary phase of education, ready to move on to secondary in August. It is an anxious time for them as they leave the comfort and security of being the oldest children at Rayyan to being the youngest children at Madinat Khalifa Secondary. In preparation, we have planned a Year 6 to7 Transition Day at Madinat Khalifa, where the children will experience a great day of learning and gain a sense of what it feels like to be a Year 7 student. We wish them every success in their future journey.
On Wednesday evening, they will celebrate their successful primary schooling with their friends at the Al Sharq Village and Spa where they will reflect on their time at school, enjoy dinner and play games.
On Thursday, we will hold the Year 6 Leavers Assembly where the students will share the highlights of their time at Compass Rayyan. We look forward to hearing from them.
As temperatures have risen, all breaks are now indoors. Please make sure your children stay hydrated and bring their refillable water bottle to school. Lessons will continue as usual until the end of term so please make sure your children come to school. Last week we had Year 5B on 100% attendance-well done!
Have a lovely week.
