The end of their Primary schooling is a monumental milepost in the course of their academic career.
This morning, we will congregate in the school hall to say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6 students. Each individual student has been an absolute pleasure to teach and we have been delighted to see how they are developing into hardworking, respectful young adults. I am sure the Assembly will be emotional in parts as the students recall memories from their Primary years.
Last week, Year 6 students who plan to remain at Compass International School Doha, attended the Madinat Khalifa Secondary Campus as part of their Transition Day. All the children returned full of enthusiasm for this next step.
On Wednesday, the Year 6 Graduation celebration was very well attended. At 5pm, students from the three campuses arrived at the Sharq Village and Spa, suited and booted for a glamorous evening which involved a buffet meal, dancing, a limbo and Kahoot competition plus pass the parcel. All students thoroughly enjoyed the evening and there were even some tears at the end when some students suddenly became aware that they would shortly be saying goodbye to much-loved friends and teachers. We wish our Year 6 students the best of luck for the future and hope they continue to shine.
On Tuesday, we were treated to our annual Music extravaganza when our students shared their learning and how they have benefitted from the school’s collaboration with The Juilliard School. It was wonderful to see our students performing confidently on the keyboard, reading musical notation and keeping in time. Thank you to Mr Mannings and all the students for their hard work in preparation for Tuesday’s Assembly.
On Thursday, Ms. Reyad shared French learning in Assembly. The Assembly was wonderful and highly entertaining with songs sung by the students fluently in French and learning was shared in a PowerPoint presentation. At the end of the assembly we presented certificates to the students who have very recently passed their DELF (Diplome d’Etudes de la Langue Francaise) exam. All students who sat this exam not only passed, but passed with very high marks. Well done to all our French students and the lovely Ms. Reyad.
5B students were awarded a certificate on Thursday for not only the best attendance but for being the most punctual students. They celebrated on Thursday as they were treated to a popcorn party in their classroom. There has been a marked improvement this year with attendance but punctuality still needs to be improved. Thank you to all parents who fully recognise and support the school in both these areas.
Also on Thursday, the Gharaffa students voted in the new student leaders for the next academic year. Our new leaders will be announced in Thursday’s Assembly.
We hope all our parents enjoyed sharing this year’s annual report with children. If you haven’t had the opportunity already, then please take the time to sit down with your son or daughter in order to reflect on performance and set personal targets for the next academic year.
Enjoy the final week of this academic year and please remember that the school finishes at 12pm on Thursday.
Head of Campus, Gharaffa
