As I walked around it became clear that attendance was high and parents, staff and, most importantly, children, were enjoying their learning. Personally, I learnt about Mayan history, the Seven Wonders of the World (in French!), separating materials scientifically, many different mathematical procedures and how to effectively use an adjective in a sentence.
A key part in a child being able to successfully learn is a strong and clear link between home and school life; if both systems support each other then there is a good chance that the child is settled and ready to learn. Therefore, at Rayyan we don’t limit parental interaction to one-off days, and encourage you to reach out to us with your thoughts and ideas. At the same time, we endeavour to provide any information which may be useful to your child’s schooling. With this in mind, I shall be shortly inviting the class representatives for classes across the school to meet with me over a cup of tea or coffee with a view to open dialogue.
Our new house captains got to lead their teams in our first house assembly of the year on Thursday. The four students presented certificates to each class and discussed fantastic ways to earn even more Dojo points for themselves and their house team. At the end of the assembly, each house got to perform their new chant which they will hope to hear each week when the housepoint winner is announced. With such pride on show, I am sure that we are in for a very competitive year!
The Rayyan P.E. team are busy organising trials for the swim squad and positions in this invite only Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) will be announced shortly. With a plethora of sporting events already on the calendar, and the option for many more, the team will be looking out for talents and skills in a wide variety of disciplines. It is important to us that all children have the opportunity to improve and challenge themselves in the sporting field and so attendance, in the correct kit, is compulsory for our P.E. and swimming lessons.
From Tuesday, 17 September, our ECA list will close to all except newly enrolled students; no additions or changes will be made after this date. Please see Alexis Lewis on reception before this if you still wish to sign up to any ECAs with availability.
