As we opened our doors, the children excitedly welcomed the parents into their learning environments. It was a joy to see the wonderful activities taking place in every classroom in our school. Parents had the opportunity to see how their children participated in phonics lessons, they assisted their children with Geography tasks in Year 4 and were very impressed by the computing skills the children displayed in Year 6. Parents also had the opportunity to visit our specialist Music, PE and language teachers. A particular highlight for many parents was witnessing the children engaging in their Talk for Writing tasks in Year 5. We hope our parents took the opportunity to visit all parts of the school.
Different Places, Similar Lives was the title of 4B’s assembly on Thursday. The assembly was linked to the children’s International Primary Curriculum (IPC) unit and gave the important message that although we are all different in many ways we are also similar. 13 nationalities were represented in this class assembly alone. The children enjoyed sharing their knowledge about their culture and delivered their lines in a confident manner. Well done, to the 4B team. At the end of the school assembly, we recorded this year’s Global Campus song, ‘May there be Peace’. The song will be mixed with the voices of children from all Nord Anglia schools worldwide. We shared the final piece on social media, please click here to view.
Last week the school was gifted with some beautiful bushes which were donated by QBS radio station. This was organised by Mrs Abir Shaaban one of our wonderful parents and Friends of Compass members. Thank you to both Mrs Shaaban and QBS for your kindness.
A reminder that Class Representatives have a special meeting tomorrow. This will be hosted by our Class Representatives leader, Balsam Al Maari. Also this week, we have our parents phonics and mathematics workshop on Wednesday and replacing assembly on Thursday will be the Year 1 and Year 2 workshop. Hopefully, all our parents will be able to join us for some fun, hands on learning.
Photographers will be in school next Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to take class photos. There is a family photograph session at 1.30pm on Monday, 30 September.
On Monday, 14 October the school will be hosting this term’s Parent Teacher Consultations. It’s important that all parents attend this event in order to learn more about progress and areas for development. Parents should also take this opportunity to meet with specialist teachers.
I would like to thank all our parents who continually support the school by being punctual. The school’s start time is 7.15am, all children are expected to be lined up at the start of the day.
Have a wonderful week.
