Early Years led our first workshop of the academic year on Wednesday and Milepost 1 followed suit on Thursday. Both teams gave informative presentations about English and Mathematics learning with younger children and gave knowledgeable advice as to how we can encourage learning through practical activities. Parents had the opportunity to use play dough, flashcards and numerous other resources at our Early Years workshop whilst parents from Milepost 1 used manipulatives such as Numicon, bead strings, clocks and shapes in mathematics activities and played flashcard matching games to aid with reading and word recognition. All these resources are used in class to help children visualise and understand new concepts. I would like to thank both teams for preparing engaging presentations and for leading some interesting learning activities. Thank you once again to all our wonderful parents to attending these sessions. We hope you found the sessions useful and enjoyable. If your children are in Milepost 2 and Milepost 3, then workshops will be held as follows:
8 October Milepost 2 (Parents’ English and Mathematics Workshop) 7.30am to 8.30am
9 October Milepost 3 (Parents’ English and Mathematics Workshop) 7.30am to 8.30am
Our early morning swimming training has now begun. Three teams of students arrive in the early hours of the day in order to develop their swim skills. Thank you to our wonderful team of teachers for providing this opportunity for the Gharaffa students and well done to all the children for your attendance and dedication.
Last Monday, the school’s Under 11 team of students departed for English Modern School to compete against eleven other schools in Indoor Athletics. We are extremely proud of our team who competed with skill also displaying excellent sportsmanship. We are proud to announce that our Gharaffa team came in fourth place. Well done to all our athletes and once again, thank you to our PE department.
Our Class Representatives enjoyed cake and karak tea on Tuesday as they met informally to share skills, experience and backgrounds. Thank you to Balsam Al Maari for organising the morning’s group meeting.
This week our students are enjoying posing for class photographs. We look forward to seeing the final results in a few weeks’ time.
Parents, another reminder that our Parent Teacher Consultation will be held on 14 October. The meetings will be held between 2pm and 6pm. We will sent out further information at the end of the week.
Have a lovely week.
