Our first primary assembly took place on Thursday morning. We welcomed Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) providers, Mad Science and Future Football, to Themaid to share their skills and programmes with students. The children had a lovely time, sharing their science and STEAM knowledge and enjoying the practical experiments. The football coaches showcased their skills and ran a competition to see who could keep the ball in the air for longest. Our students were keen to be involved and put themselves to the test. Well done to all our volunteers!
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Personal Goal in Primary last week was Morality. Students who had shown that they are able to make the right choices, know right from wrong and help others to do the right thing were awarded with a certificate at assembly. They were very proud to be the first certificate winners at Themaid and to share the occasion with their parents.
The ECA programme started last week and many students are involved in up to three activities. There are places left in some groups so if you would like your child to join any ECA, please sign them up using the online registration.
This week will see the final presentations and elections for Student Voice posts at Themaid. We are looking forward to formally presenting the students with their caps and badges on Thursday at assembly. Parents are invited to join us.
On Wednesday, 2 October, we will welcome the AFCENT Band to school. They will play and engage the students in a variety of popular songs. The programme starts at 8.30am with Primary students.
Wednesday will see our first ‘Drop in in for Coffee’ at Themaid campus. All parents are welcome to come along at 7.30am and have an informal chat and coffee with myself and the leadership team. We would be delighted to hear your thoughts on our school and share some ideas with you.
Please see the October ‘What’s On’ for details of activities at Themaid.
If you are interested in being part of a ‘Friends of Compass School’ (FCS) group, we would love to hear from you. There are many ways we can build our community spirit and host family events to bring parents, staff and students together. The group will meet twice per term to bring ideas to the table and plan some fun events for our students. There is an opportunity to work with the FCS groups at our other campuses on joint ventures and share ideas. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you to parents for following the guidelines set out to make the school a safe place. If you do not have an ID badge or car pass yet, please contact Reception.
Our Parent Seminar series starts this week with a presentation about the Arabic curriculum from Ms Enaam Taweel. It will take place on Tuesday, 1 October at 7.30am in the auditorium. Please come along.
I hope you have a very enjoyable week.
