The team fought hard against the other Compass schools who were equally as strong and determined. Well done to all the children and in particular our Gharaffa team of students and teachers.
This week, our Admissions team welcomed many new families to the school for Early Years assessments. We had the opportunity to meet some lovely children who joined the Early Years team to showcase their skills and personalities. We look forward to welcoming our new families in August.
Also in Early Years last week we were treated to a delightful fashion show which took place in front of teachers and parents. The children thoroughly enjoyed their experience and the opportunity to display their wonderful characters and personalities. Prior to the show, Early Years 2 enjoyed a visit from Captain Blackbeard who answered many questions about life on the ocean waves. Thank you once again to our inspirational Early Years team for initiating such memorable learning.
In assembly on Thursday, Year 6A shared last term’s learning from their IPC unit, ‘Extreme Survivors’. The children delivered their knowledge in an articulate manner, encouraging audience participation. Well done to team 6A and thank you to Ms Mulcahy and Ms Payne.
Last week, we held our first FCS (Friends of Compass) meeting of the academic year. Nicky Levey, FCS Vice Chairperson led the meeting where we discussed and evaluated last term’s events and current projects. Thank you to all parents who attended the meeting. A quick reminder that our Class Representatives meeting will be taking place tomorrow at 7.30am.
Academic workshops have now begun. Please try to attend the workshops as the teachers have worked hard to prepare activities which will give a clear insight into learning and the strategies we use to teach children. Milepost 3 workshop will be taking place on Wednesday.
If you were unable to attend this week’s workshops then please take the time to attend next week’s School in Action when we will be showcasing the quality of teaching and learning in our school. Parents are free to visit classes from 7.30am until 9.30am.
Our Friends of Compass team are currently preparing for the school’s Health and Fitness morning which will take place on Wednesday 5 February and will begin with a ‘Wake up and Shake up’ on the school playground. The team have planned a wide range of activities which will hopefully educate our whole school community about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
