Parents who were able to attend enjoyed watching their child participate in a range of skills based activities. Activity stations included basketball shoot, basketball dribble, standing long jump, speed bounce, shot put and an obstacle course. Children were determined to beat other house teams as they energetically competed. The atmosphere was spectacular as our fantastic PE teachers provided a running commentary to the beat of a musical soundtrack. Thank you once again to the parents who attended this event, to all our wonderful children, teachers and Learning Assistants for encouraging the children and the PE department for their unlimited energy and drive. The winner this year was ……..EAST! Well done, East.
On Wednesday, excited Year 2 children departed from the school for ‘Kidzmondo’. The children had a fantastic day, arriving back in school with news of their day out and their fun learning. All children had the opportunity to practise their number bonds and find out more about different services.
Also last week, Joshua Palmer from The Juilliard School visited Compass to deliver a dance master class to our students.
On Sunday our Year 6 students set off for their annual Blue Pearl Residential Trip where the students are currently enjoying water sports and participating in outdoor activities such as climbing and mountain biking. We are looking forward to welcoming our children back into school on Tuesday and hope they all had a memorable learning experience and enjoyed meeting other students and making new friends. Thank you to all the staff who have given up their time to lead this event.
On Monday, we enjoyed another visit from Juilliard Curriculum Specialists. Flutronix performed to children from Early Years 1 to Year 6. Flutronix is Nathalie Joachim and Allison Loggins-Hull, two inspirational flautists who have modernised the sound of the flute and hauled it into the world of modern music. Thank you to Flutronix for the wonderful musical experience. We look forward to welcoming these talented musicians back to the school in the future.
Also on Monday, our Early Years had the opportunity to meet with class teachers. The meetings are extended and taking place over a two week period. We hope parents find the meeting informative.
On Tuesday and Wednesday our Compass school choir will be competing in the Qatar School Choir competition. We look forward to hearing the results from this event and wish all our choristers and Mr Sanderson the very best of luck.
In school we are pushing hand washing and good hygiene. We are working hard as a school to ensure that any infection isn’t spread and encourage parents to keep children at home who are showing flu type symptoms, including a cough, cold, body aches or a high temperature. Children with elevated temperatures will be sent home immediately. Could I please ask that families use the antiseptic dispenser on arrival at the campus and encourage good practice at home. Thank you for your support.
Have a good week.
