In assembly and PSHE this week we asked the students to consider these questions. The 21st century issues we are beginning to face in society and in school are the blurred lines between social media reality and world reality. We are educating students that there is no difference on the comments you make on social media, and the comments you make in real life. In fact, we need to think harder about interactions on social media as they are permanent and a tone cannot be inferred from a typed message like it can with a joke spoken with a smile.
We had a full Sports Hall last week for our Year 9 Options Evening. We heard how the school is performing to academically strong standards, but also gives the opportunity to students to develop their character. As well as being able to speak to teachers regarding the plethora of courses available at IGCSE, students and parents were able to look at the standards of work and speak to students currently studying the course. There are some tough decisions ahead and we will be counselling the students to ensure that they make the right decisions for them now and for their future studies.
Everyone seems to be preparing for something at the moment. The IB students were preparing for and taking their orals at the weekend that is part of their final grade. Students that are taking art are completing their exhibits that will be on display soon.
Yours sincerely,
