At Compass International School Doha, we believe that Student Voice inspires and empowers students and enables them to use their knowledge to contribute to the classroom and to the school. At each campus we have a Head Girl and Head Boy, Student Council and Eco Warriors. At Madinat Khalfia we also have a Secondary Student Cabinet.
The Primary Student Council are elected by their classmates after they have presented their manifestos. Once chosen, the Student Councillors meet together once a month to plan any upcoming events and discuss any suggestions brought up by their classmates.
On a day-to-day basis the Student Councillors’ jobs include monitoring the playground and helping to tidy equipment. They also help to welcome new pupils and are the voice of the students in their classes.
Our Council members greatly benefit the school and we hope to keep developing this important role each year.
Our Student Council are led by the Head Girl and Head Boy, who are chosen by the Leadership Team at each campus following applications and interviews.
In Secondary at Madinat Khalifa and Themaid, students are asked to elect members from each form to ensure the views of each year group are represented.
Each candidate then makes an election speech based on what they would do for the students at our school. Forms then vote and an overall winner is selected.
The members of the Student Council attend meetings, put forward opinions of those in their classes, organise and assist at events and work together as a team throughout the year.
We also have Eco Warriors at each campus who are nominated by their peers and work together to raise awareness and introduce eco-friendly initiatives around our school.
