We braved the cold and rain yesterday and enjoyed what was a really interesting day. The students had a barrage of questions where ever they went and really engaged in the history they were experiencing, which was fantastic to see. In the afternoon we took part in the Coming World Remember Me charity arts project and the students honoured the war dead by making clay models. Their handy work will form part of the final street art gallery when it is complete, and the names of our students will forever be linked to a fallen soldier through dog tags that will go on each sculpture... NAS Dubai leaving our mark on the WW1 centenary commemorations in Europe! The day ended with dinner in a nice restaurant in the town square, followed by the emotional Last Post bugle ceremony at Menin Gate... and as predicted there were a few teary eyes and it wasn't just mr Malcolm! Today we complete the last of our historical visit with a guided tour of Flanders Fields. Then it is back on the road to Paris... but not before a much anticipated visit to the chocolaterie en route! We will try to get some pictures but the Wifi is testing our patience somewhat!
