primary teacher helping year 3 students in maths class

Heather Miall

Originally I am from a small seaside town called Cleethorpes in the UK where I have taught for 3 years before taking the exciting opportunity to teach at Nord Anglia International School Dubai.

I hold a BA Hons degree in Primary Education from Nottingham Trent University. I am looking forward to moving to Dubai and supporting all the children at NAS Dubai.

I am very passionate about teaching and believe that all experiences at school should be exciting, enjoyable and meaningful. Through my teacher training and current teaching position I have been able to experiment with different approaches and strategies to support learning. This has highlighted the importance of a personalised teaching style, taking into account the needs and interests of the children within the class.

I am a very enthusiastic and creative teacher and try to always make learning engaging and memorable. I encourage the use of talk partners, buddy groups and whole team approaches when completing a variety of tasks. This enables children to learn effectively whilst also supporting and encouraging their friends. On a typical day the classroom will be filled with meaningful and engaging conversations. I am an extremely positive and happy person and I love to incorporate humour and fun to create a warm and friendly classroom environment.

I have a passion for music, dancing and performing. In my spare time I also love to travel, be it to neighbouring towns and cities or flying half way across the world. I enjoy experiencing different cultures, but most importantly sampling the local cuisine in every country I visit!
