Students learn by organizing, planning, and hosting several events and festivals to showcase their learning. These applications provide excellent cross-curricular opportunities and real audiences for students to share their knowledge. Our annual festivals include:
- Sixth Grade Cultural Festival
- Seventh Grade Seedfolks Garden Party
- Eighth Grade Coaster Press Conferences
Voice
We celebrate students’ developing writing styles and identities with the publication of Voice, a literary magazine that showcases students work. Our students are invited to submit writing and artwork, and help with the creation of this publication. Further, students perform recitations, monologues, and skits at our Voice, Live evening of literature, featuring a famous author as the finale.
Laker Learning Buddies
“To teach is to learn twice.” Such is the rationale behind our Laker Learning Buddies. Every student is paired with another student, creating a social and a learning relationship. Learning buddies learn together, support each other, and grow together.
