ResLife Weekly Updates

Mental health is always an important topic when working with teenagers and perhaps even more so this year.  Windermere Prep ResLife partners with Kali's Loft, a local counseling and life coach organization, to provide opportunities for students to learn about positive and healthy mental health habits and strategies as well as offer a safe and needed space for students to share and discuss the challenges facing them.  Last week, Kali came to the dorms to speak with our students about dealing with frustrations over school work and the effects/restrictions of COVID.  It was a healthy discussion and students left the meeting feeling a sense of calm and confidence moving forward, full of strategies and ideas to take control and keep positive.  This program will be offered next week during two different sessions to our students not physically on our campus so that they too may benefit from her counseling as they too are facing challenges and part of our family.  Likewise, Dorm Parents, who have these conversations with the students daily, receive coaching and support from Kali to ensure that all are equipped to meet the dynamic and unique challenges boarding, international teenagers faces.  We are very happy to have this partnership and be able to support our students and staff in their mental needs and education.  A happy dorm life is a great dorm life! ~ Dean Topodas, Director of Residential Life
