Mellor/McGhie Golf Performance Fall Semester Success Stories MMG Golfers Yoko Tai, Nicky Riscica, and Harrison Freeze

Each August at MMG Performance we look forward to starting our flagship program. The Elite Junior Performance Program we run in partnership with Windermere Preparatory School. Every year we advance the program to stay on the leading edge of junior development and to support our players better. Along with the advancements we welcome new players and the opportunity to support them in reaching their goals.

This year due to travel restrictions student numbers with us were lower than usual. There were various challenges we have all had to face this year we are very proud of how our students have responded from an attitude and behavior standpoint in both training and in competition. Their consistency in approach, staying focussed on what they can control, and being the best they can be every day has lead to some excellent performances. Here are a few highlights from this first semester to date.

Yoko Tai wins Fourth Place At The Golfweek Invitational.  The Golfweek Invitational has always presented a strong field of junior golfers, this year it was hosted by The Hammock Beach Resort. Over a windy weekend, Yoko played solid golf to put herself in contention once again this year in a large junior championship. Yoko continues her pursuit toward a college with high-level academics and golf. Currently, she is in communication with coaches at Illinois, Michigan, Northwestern, Princeton, and Yale among others. She is currently preparing for events over the Christmas break, the Harder Hall Women’s Invitational, and The Junior Orange Bowl. Both tournaments will present strong international fields and an opportunity to strengthen her game and showcase her ability to college coaches. Go Yoko!

Over a weekend packed with rain and storm delays, Nicky stayed calm and focussed on a few key elements he had control of, his attitude and his routine to make the most out of the adverse conditions.

Harrison took full home advantage on the Panther Lake golf course at Orange County National, firing rounds of 72 and 71 for a -1 total. Harrison is a new student at MMG and said “I love the one on one training and the great coaching staff at MMG. I have improved a lot both in golf and in the gym. I believe that MMG has some of the best coaches and trainers in the world and I feel that has helped my game a lot.”
