Self-expression takes many forms in our arts program: drawing, painting, pottery, sculpting and more. But art isn't restricted to art classes. We also integrate art throughout our curriculum, using it to enhance lessons and improve visual critical thiinking skills. We want our students to think in terms of images, as well as words, expressing themselves in every way possible. And, we also hope they come to appreciate the work of others, igniting a lifelong interest in art and leading them to embrace those experiences that can bring beauty and meaning into their lives.
The visual arts curriculum at Windermere Preparatory School is designed to bring each student the confidence and desire to create. Students are encouraged to be expressive and focus more on the process than the end product. Students are always encouraged to explore their talents and options whether it is drawing, painting or sculpture. While following standards and guidelines, the art room is a safe haven for creative expression and development of critical thinking skills.

Lower School Visual Arts, Second Through Fifth Grades
The visual arts curriculum at the Lower School creates a love for and knowledge of art through hands-on creations, mastery of the elements and principals of art, and a journey through Art History. Students realize that art is all around them, and there are always aspects that will energize and excite every child. Art isn’t just coloring in the lines. The students leave this program with a readiness and preparedness to continue on in our Middle School Visual Arts Program and with a desire to create art.
PK3 Through First Grades
The visual arts curriculum for PK3-First Grades provides enrichment in the lives of students as young artists. By providing a fusion of visual art, music and drama, students are able to explore, investigate, learn, create and reflect within all three disciplines. This proves to be a valuable, stimulating and creative experience, which allows students to engage with the arts, make connections between art forms, discover artistic talents and artistic curiosity within themselves as young learners, and to develop the confidence to create personal expression through the arts.
