Windermere Prep Parent Volunteer Association

The WPVA is the Parent Volunteer Association at WPS. We're a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing support for the educational and recreational needs of our children through enrichment programs while promoting a sense of community to encourage school spirit and pride through planned events.

The WPVA is always looking for dynamic volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering during your child’s time at WPS, it's a wonderful opportunity to be more involved. Opportunities are available in Lower School, Middle School, and High School. All volunteers must be background checked.

Lower School Lead Room Coordinator

The lead room coordinator will comfortably be able to communicate with the teacher to plan and organize classroom events/parties per teacher instruction throughout the school year.  The individual will be collecting and handling TAG funds, and distributing those funds based on the TAG budget for the class.  They will also recruit and coordinate volunteers through a classroom sign up site and will send timely reminders about school and classroom events.  The room coordinators will keep parent and child contact information private, and will follow all school policies and procedures at all times by being a positive and helpful point of contact for parents. 

Requirements:

– WPS Fingerprint and Background Check

– Computer skills, preferably Numbers/Excel

– Ability to diplomatically communicate with teacher and parents

– Ability to follow a detailed budget

– Attention to detail

– Quick Follow Up

Lower School Room Coordinator Assistant

Work closely with the Lead Room Coordinator in executing all classroom events. They will also recruit and coordinate volunteers through a classroom Shutterfly site and will send timely reminders about school and classroom events. The room coordinators will keep parent and child contact information private, and will follow all school policies and procedures at all times by being a positive and helpful point of contact for parents. One year commitment.

Event Coordinator Assistant

This position will work closely with our current Event Coordinator, and will automatically move to Lead Event Coordinator after one to two years.  This is a minimum of a 2–4 year commitment.  Experience in planning and executing events is a plus.  You will work closely with our vendors, schedule the set up of any planned events, review vendor invoices, and oversee the execution of events.  You will also plan our annual auction through bidding owl.  Computer skills are required. 


Lower School Glow Party Volunteer

This is a lower school fundraiser dance party in the gym. Volunteers are needed with set up, clean up, and to chaperone areas of the gym. This is a one day commitment ending by 11pm.


Lower School Holiday Shop Committee

Classes in the lower school come to the Holiday Shop to purchase holiday gifts for their family. Volunteers are needed to help set-up/take-down, help wrap gifts, take funds, and shop with the children. This is a one week commitment working closely with our Holiday Shop Coordinator. The Sunday prior to shop week will be scheduled to transport items and set them up. During sale week, your days are also filled with restock and inventory organization. Items need to be brought back to storage in bins at the conclusion of the sale. Vehicle usage is a requirement.


Middle School Mania Volunteer

Middle school team building event where students spend the day working and competing in teams. Volunteers are needed to help with providing and setting up lunch, serving food and cleaning up. This is a one day commitment from 8am-3pm.


Middle School Halloween Monster Mash Volunteer

This will be a fun fundraiser dress up dance party in the gym. Volunteers are needed for set up, clean up, and to chaperone areas of the gym. This is a one day commitment ending by 11pm.


High School Senior Committee

Help plan events for the graduating class. This is a full year commitment working with the High School Coordinators.


Picture Day Volunteer

Help the children make sure they look their best when taking their school photo while checking in students and directing classes as they enter the gym. This is a 2-4 hour commitment during campus picture days.


Used Uniform Committee

Used Uniform Sales provide an opportunity for parents to purchase gently used uniforms. Parents are always encouraged to turn in gently used uniforms for credit toward their purchases. Volunteers are needed to help sort and organize uniform items, help set-up/take-down the Used Uniform Sales, and work during the sales. Serving on this committee is a full year commitment working closely with the Used Uniform Coordinator, meeting monthly. Sales are typically held three times during the school year on Saturdays from 9am-2pm.


Tennis Tournament Committee

The annual WPVA Tennis Tournament at Isleworth Country Club offers parent fun while raising money for the school’s chosen charity. Volunteer commitment is the day of tournament, typically in December, and meetings to help plan the details for prizes, lunch, and auction items.


Rockin’ Carnival Committee

This community family fun night will be held on campus in February and volunteers are needed to help set up/take down, organize high school volunteers, serve food, take funds, and monitor auction items. This is a full day commitment ending by 11pm.


Teacher Appreciation Week Volunteer

A week long celebration honoring our teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Volunteers are needed to help decorate, set up food stations, and clean up daily. This is a week long commitment ending by 1pm daily.

If you cannot commit to any specific committee or volunteer opportunity listed but want to be notified for any general volunteer opportunities, we will add you to our volunteer list and notify you as opportunities arise.
