Staff Profile: Mrs. A. Rigard

Mrs. A. Rigard

English Teacher

Mrs. Rigard has taught both in the UK and internationally. Most recently at St Paul's Academy in London and internationally in Shanghai and Dubai. She has a BA (Hons) in English and Theology as well as a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

Mrs. Rigard has taught for 13 years as an English teacher at Secondary level, Head of Department and has held various leading pastoral roles.  She brings a wide range of experience, and a passion and commitment for teaching English.

In 2010, I led a group of students on a joint Art, Music and Drama to Kerala, India. The focus of the trip was to work with school children who have Cerebral Palsy. The school had only been open for a short time and had a limited curriculum so we introduced our Art, Drama and Music  curriculum to help exercise the children’s muscles in a more creative way and to lessen their pain by focusing on something enjoyable. Students worked with the children and their mothers which culminated in a final 40-minute play watched by over 400 people. For me as an educator, it reiterated the importance of a holistic education for children and adapting teaching and learning styles appropriately.

I teach fun and interesting lessons. I am very passionate about teaching English. I  always have time for the students and have a firm but fair approach to discipline!

I enjoy reading, watching films, listening to music, walking, swimming and yoga.
