Prior to coming to Hong Kong, Mr. Cottrell taught in Beijing, Shanghai and Dalian as well as in the UK. He has a degree in the History of Art from London University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in primary school teaching from Nottingham University. He is also a qualified English as a second language teacher with a TESOL from St Mary’s College, Twickenham.
I have taught in and held positions of responsibility in international schools, language schools as well as primary schools in the UK. I particularly enjoy the diversity of international schools and working with children from a variety of different backgrounds.
During my time as a teacher, I have always been passionate about high quality teaching and learning, and giving children the opportunity to develop their individual talents. It is vital to incorporate a range of teaching styles and assessment for learning strategies within a culturally inclusive curriculum to support children’s learning and to give each child the opportunity to develop the skills they need for a successful future. One of my main focuses is to help children develop socially and emotionally allowing them to become confident learners who can reach their full potential and feel valued within their environment.
During my spare time I enjoy the challenges of learning languages and have a strong interest in travelling and trying different cuisines. When possible, I love cycling and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
