Mrs. Thomson grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, where she studied Politics and Marketing Management, and began a career in Aviation and Marketing which led her to London in 2004. After a week volunteering with a children’s charity, Mrs Thomson decided on a career change and she gained her Primary GTP at the West London Partnership with Kingston University in 2007. Mrs. Thomson spent four years in the state sector followed by seven years in a Prep School, both in SW London, teaching a range of year groups within the primary sector. She specialised mainly in upper KS2 and led subjects such as French/MFL and, more recently, Maths. Currently in her 13th year of teaching and her 2nd at Nord Anglia in Hong Kong, Mrs Thomson loves to get involved in whole school initiatives, including helping with School Council and International Day.
Mrs. Thomson’s motto is “Work hard; play hard!” with empathy, sense of team spirit and respect for others. Seeing children’s growth and blossoming into confident, independent and caring human beings is what drives Mrs Thomson to producing the best teaching materials and providing the best quality education experience to all her students. She thoroughly enjoys teaching in such a rich and diverse city, and learning from the children and fellow teachers.
A proud mother of two, Mrs Thomson’s spare time is mostly dedicated to her children going to the beach, bike riding, hiking and exploring all the cultural opportunities that Hong Kong has to offer. She loves learning languages (she’s trilingual in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and can hold a conversation in French and Italian), technology, gymnastics, dancing and a good karaoke session.
